The Fossil Station Museum, built in 1907, was originally the county jail, the sheriff's office and living quarters. Rooms display educational settings of artifacts used or created by Russell County residents from the mid-1800's to the present.

Today it is the office of the Russell County historical society as well as a museum housing artifacts significant to the history of Russell, Kansas
